Beauty abounds on a new memorial page created this week in honor of a longtime Belchertown resident and well-known photographer Leslie “Les” Campbell, who died on September 24, 2020, on the website,

“The plan at the time was to hold a celebration of his life in the spring of 2021 at his beloved Sky Meadow home and gallery,” says his son, David Campbell. “The prevalence of COVID then and still today did not allow this to happen. Many stories about him, and his 70 years of love for photography could have been told.

Les Campbell’s website is still maintained as a tribute to his family and contains much of his biographical information. Her son notes that Campbell either founded, co-founded or was a member of numerous camera clubs. “It was an avenue for two of his passions: teaching other photographers and seeing their work.”

Two of these clubs, the Quabbin Photo Group and pioneer valley photographic artists, still meet monthly in Belchertown.

“He loved their friendship and their work. Some of the members who knew him well were asked if they would like to put some of their photos on a memorial page on his website, and to write a little about him if they wish,” said David Campbell.
