Vermont Business Magazine On Saturday, September 3, Bennington, Vermont will once again transform into “Garlic Town, USA” to celebrate all things garlic and agriculture! Garlic Town, USA, formerly known as the award-winning Garlic Fest and produced by the Southwest Vermont Chamber of Commerce, has announced that the festival will return to downtown Bennington for the holiday weekend of Labor 2022.

Bennington has become world famous for its annual garlic events held annually on Labor Day weekend. The city’s garlic events have been recognized as one of the Top 10 Garlic Festivals in the World by Reuters, featured in Yankee Magazine, awarded Vermont’s Time-Honored Top 10 Fall Event, and have been consecutively Bennington Banner and Manchester Journals Reader’s Choice for Best Event in the region.

Last year’s event saw over 8,000 visitors and residents stroll through downtown Bennington with garlic and food vendors, sidewalk sales, tractor rides and more. According to a post-festival survey released by the Chamber last year, about $100,000 was spent by attendees from Garlic Town to downtown Bennington in one day.

This year, the Chamber’s Garlic team is deploying even more during the 2022 event.

“With the resounding success of last year’s downtown festival, we want to try out some more fan favorites at this year’s festival,” said Matt Harrington, executive director of the South West Chamber of Commerce. Vermont. “This year we are bringing back even more vendors targeting 125-150 vendors (last year there were just over 100). We are increasing food trucks and food vendors. We are bringing back the Garlic Bar which will be again produced by Ramunto’s Pizza. And, we’re bringing back the bands and the stages!”

New this year is a brand new website produced by Matte Olive. The dedicated website at www.GarlicTownUSA.com highlights vendors, tickets, bands, bars, history and more. Visitors will be able to easily find the providers they are looking for through the search function and map layout on the website.

“One of the comments we received last year was that our festival page hosted on the Chamber website needed to be expanded to answer the many questions any patron has at a festival in a new city,” explains Harrington. “Thanks to the Agency for Trade and Community Development’s Tourism and Economic Recovery Marketing Grant, we were able to create a dynamic and informative website for Garlic Town, USA. We owe a huge thank you to the Grants Committee, as well as the team at Matte Olive – this website will not only help us grow the event, but also welcome our guests as they enjoy a great day in downtown Bennington. We are also using part of our funds to run a bigger social and digital media campaign for the festival this year as well. »
