Delhi photographer stole camera, lenses inside autorickshaw

Three people in a rickshaw allegedly stole a camera and lens worth around Rs 7 lakh from the bag of a female photographer in Mayur Vihar, east Delhi on Monday.

The 65-year-old photojournalist later found out that the accused had replaced the stolen items with stones.

According to the woman’s complaint, she was in East Delhi and on her way to Noida when she found the car. “I was on Mother Dairy Road waiting for a 6:30 pm bus when an auto-rickshaw arrived. There was a driver and two passengers in the back seat. I told him that I wanted to go to Noida sector 15 ”, we read in the FIR.

The woman got into the car with the men after they offered to take her home. “I sat inside and one of them told me to keep my bag in the back to make room for the others. He insisted and I put the bag on my back. At around 7 p.m. they dropped me off at Mayur Vihar Phase 1 and asked me to take another car to Noida. I took my bag and left. Later I checked my bag and found that my camera and lenses were missing. There were stones in it, ”reads the FIR.

The woman alleged that she had 2-3 lenses and a Canon camera which is worth Rs 7 lakhs.

The accused fled the area before the woman could call the police.

An FIR under flight sections was recorded at Shakarpur Police Station. No arrests have yet been made.
