The popular New York music festival Governors Ball will return to Queens this summer and its lineup has been confirmed.
The three-day event, also known as the Gov Ball, will be held at Citi Field for the second time in its 11-year history.
The festival will return to its traditional June slot after being held on site in September last year due to pandemic-related delays. The 2022 Governors Ball will take place June 10-12.
Kid Cudi, Halsey and J.Cole will headline the festival throughout the weekend. Other artists include Migos, Flume, Louis The Child, Tove Lo, Jack Harlow, Joji and Glass Animals.
The music festival – which features top artists from a wide variety of musical genres – was first held on Governors Island in 2011 and was just a one-day event.
The Gov Ball moved to Randall’s Island in 2012 to accommodate more cast and attendees before moving to Citi Field last year.
Around 150,000 people attended the 2021 festival over the three days, organizers said.
Like last year’s festival, the concert will take place in the parking lots surrounding Citi Field. Asphalt parking lots will be transformed into green lawns with high-quality Astroturf and several stages installed around the stadium to create a 360-degree layout that prevents sound leaks between stages.
Festival organizers said last year they chose the ballpark as the new location because it’s close to subways, buses and the Long Island Rail Road. They said the easy access to the stadium allows for greater flexibility in the face of potential weather events.
Tickets for the Governors Ball went on sale Thursday.
