What are the rules?
The format is unlike any other professional golf tournament and includes 28 foursome, four-ball and singles matches.
Quartet: Teams of two men from Europe and America compete. Each pair uses the same ball and golfers take turns shooting.
Four balls: Similar to quartets, this also involves two-man teams. However, instead of alternating strokes, each player hits their own ball and each team counts the lowest score on each hole. The player with the lower score wins the hole for his team and if the lower score is tied, the hole is halved.
Singles match: Each American player faces a European player on the final day of head-to-head competition.
