Wellington photographer Susan Doherty of Susan’s Portrait Designs was named one of Kansas’ 10 Best Photographers of the Year by the Kansas Professional Photographers Association (KPPA).
There were 21 entries and Doherty placed ninth with a score of 322. She submitted four entries: Bashful, My 3 Sons, Ready to Serve and Hey, That’s My Ear.
“It was exciting,” Doherty said. “It was our first convention since COVID-19, so it was nice to come back, to be able to compete and to see my colleagues.”
The goal of the KPPA is to advance photography in all its branches and to promote good fellowship and educational advancement among photographers in the State of Kansas and the surrounding territory and as a profession, to oppose the violations and infringements of the rights of professional photographers.
In the photography competition, the KPPA recognizes and honors people who have worked hard for the association without regard to the sacrifices incurred.
Doherty has made a living as a photographer and continues to enjoy it. Thursday, June 17, it celebrated its 25 years of activity.
Susan’s Portrait Designs is located in Wellington at 321 N Plum St and her photos can be seen on her website or on her Facebook page.
